2018 Junior Residential Camp Logistics

Camp Rules

  • Be prompt for all sessions. We will follow the times on the schedule unless otherwise notified.
  • All meals are mandatory.
  • Let a counselor know where you are at all times. Campers are not allowed to leave campus between Check In and Check Out unless given permission prior to the start of camp.
  • You are a mature young lady, please act like one. We do not handle discipline problems; we send them home.
  • Report all injuries to the trainer as soon as they occur.
    • We do not have ice in the dorms. If you need ice (for injuries only) please pick up from the trainer at the field.
  • You will be in your rooms by 10:30 pm.
  • Campers are responsible for keeping their rooms clean and will be financially responsible for any damages incurred.
  • Do not enter someone else’s room unless you are invited. Theft will be reported to the campus police immediately for investigation and offenders will be sent home.
  • No outside persons except campers, counselors, and camper parents are allowed in the dorms at any time.
  • Do not prop doors open (campers key cards have restricted access times).
  • All rooms must be locked before departing the dorm.
  • Lost room keys or swipe cards must be reported to a counselor immediately to insure dorm security.
    • You will automatically lose your key deposit unless the key is recovered prior to Check Out.
  • Absolutely no smoking, no alcohol, no drugs.

 

 Medical Form

  • Completed Medical Form, available on DukeSoccerSchool.com or in your confirmation email, must be submitted by the start of camp.
    • Middle/high school physicals may be substituted for the doctor’s signature if completed in the past year
    • Please either submit the form online through your Active account or email to us at dukesoccerschool@gmail.com. Please turn in medical form at least 24 hours before the start of camp

 

What to Bring

  • Key Deposit Check (Make out to Duke Soccer School for $125.00. Please write your camper’s name on the check)
  • Check for any remaining balance on your account
  • Bed Linens or Sleeping Bag (The beds for this camp are FULL-SIZED not Twin)
  • Blanket
  • Pillow
  • Towel(s)
  • Soap
  • Shampoo/Conditioner
  • Toothpaste and Toothbrush
  • Sunscreen (Recommended)
  • Shirts/Socks/Shorts for seven training sessions
  • Soccer Shoes/Cleats (We will play on both turf and grass surfaces)
  • Flat-soled shoes (sandals or sneakers)
  • Shin Guards
  • GKs should bring gloves and long sleeves. Pants are recommended (for turf) but not required
  • Soccer Ball (If you did not purchase the camp ball)

 

 

Parking & Directions

  • Check In and Check Out both take place at Wannamaker Dorm. For both, please park in the Blue Zone parking lot on Wannamaker Drive and walk across Towerview Road to the dorm (we will have staff on hand to guide you).
    • Access the Blue Zone Parking lot from Duke University Road.
  • Commuter parents and parents who wish to watch games may park along Frank Bassett Drive, Science Drive Visitors Lot or in the Blue Zone.
  • Please note that Towerview Road is closed due to construction.

Commuters

  • Commuters must attend Check In at the Wannamaker Dorm on Day 1. Commuter parents, please park in the Blue Zone Lot.
  • Commuters will have access to the Wannamaker Common Room during breaks.
  • Commuters will check out Day 1 and Day 2 at 9:00 pm at the Cohan Fields at 148 Frank Bassett Drive.
  • Commuters will check in Day 2 and Day 3 at 8:15 am at the Cohan Fields at 148 Frank Bassett Drive.
  • Commuters can check out Day 3 at 3 pm at Cohan Fields.

 

Camp Store

  • The Camp Store will be located in the Wannamaker 001 Common Room.
  • The Camp Store is open during all breaks and in the evenings.
  • Campers will be able to purchase snacks, beverages, and Duke soccer merchandise at the store. We will also take evening pizza orders for campers to pick up at the store.
  • Campers may use cash or their Camp Bank money at the Camp Store. We do not take credit cards.
    • Parents may deposit money in the Camp Bank during Check In for your camper to use throughout camp. Whatever money your camper does not use is returned to you at Check Out. The usual amount is between $20-$60 for campers to purchase snacks, pizza, and apparel. Camp Bank money does not work at the university bookstore.
